About JSON Studio

Complete offline JSON toolkit: validate and repair JSON, explore it as a collapsible tree, query with dot-paths and filters, infer a JSON Schema, diff two documents and convert between JSON, CSV, YAML and query strings.

What it does

How to use it

  1. Paste or drop a JSON document into the editor.
  2. Press Validate to check it, or Repair to fix common mistakes such as trailing commas and single quotes.
  3. Switch to the Tree tab to explore the structure and copy any value's path.
  4. Use Query to pull values out with a dot-path, or Schema to infer a JSON Schema.
  5. Open Diff to compare two documents, or Convert to export CSV, YAML or a query string.

Frequently asked questions

Is my JSON uploaded anywhere?

No. Every operation runs in your browser with plain JavaScript. The page makes no network requests at all, so you can safely paste production payloads and even disconnect from the internet first.

What does Repair actually fix?

It removes trailing commas, converts single-quoted strings and unquoted keys to valid JSON, strips // and /* */ comments, removes byte-order marks, and normalises smart quotes. It shows you exactly what it changed before you accept the result.

How does the path query work?

Use dot and bracket notation, for example users[0].address.city. A wildcard * matches every element or key at that level, so users[*].email returns an array of every email address.

Can it handle very large files?

Documents up to a few megabytes are comfortable. The tree view renders lazily and collapses nodes with more than 100 children, so a large array will not freeze the page.

What JSON Schema version is produced?

Draft 2020-12. Types, required properties, array item types, enums for small repeated value sets, and string formats such as date-time, email and uri are inferred from the sample.

Is JSON Studio free?

Yes. JSON Studio is free for everyone and needs no sign-up to use. An account is only needed to export, download or print, because every export is recorded.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. It works in current versions of Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox on phones, tablets and computers, with nothing to install.
